Corsham fall at the first hurdle
A lacklustre Corsham fell at the first hurdle of the EDF Energy Senior Vase as they slumped 44-0 at Oxfordshire side Wallingford.
In a bizarre game, the Wiltshire side enjoyed a good 60 per cent of the territory and possession but still wound up well beaten as the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier outfit showed their paces on the counter.
Despite a sustained spell of pressure, Corsham, punished for a loose display up front, trailed 20-0 at the break.
Despite the odd thrust and a succession of scrum fives in the second half, Corsham's lack of cohesion hampered their chances and time again they paid heavily for turning over ball.
The Oxfordshire side were quick to run the ball back and four further breakaway tries eventually sealed Corsham's exit.
