Year Summary 2004-5
2004/05 saw an improvement in league position and
performance from the previous season. Led on the field by the excellent Colin
Ellis, Chester delivered their best league return in terms of games only
losing 6 in all
with
16 won. 2 other losses were in cup competition, where they were knocked out of the National Cup by Manchester in round 3 after beating Wirral, Leicester Lions and higher placed Macclesfield. They were also beaten semi-finalists in the Cheshire Cup by the eventual winners New Brighton.
Led by Director of Rugby and Head Coach Steve Dorrington who was
ably supported by Rob Foden (Backs Coach) and Aled Davies (Technical Coach),
Chester have developed a fantastic "Total Rugby Ethos" and an infectious "Team
Spirt", which is demonstrated right through the club from U8's through to
the energetic Chester Vets. Chester are a growing club with plenty of ambition
to develop. Notable Perfomances include: Gavin Taylor - Players
Player of the season. Steve Burke - Player of the Season. Andy Moore - Most
Improved Player of the Season.
Representative honours went to Gavin
Woods and Paul Campbell who represented Cheshire in the County
Championships.
Ben Foden gained an England U21 cap, whilst Meg Youdan
represented England U19 ladies.
Chester will look forward to 2005/06 and
plan to further improve on the
success story of many seasons of hard work, both on and off the field.
