Welcome to Caldy Rugby Football Club. If you have visited Paton Field then we feel sure that you will agree that there can be few, if any, more attractive locations for playing Rugby Union anywhere in the country. All involved with Caldy RFC are aware of their good fortune as well as their responsibilities as guardians of this wonderful asset.
Caldy Rugby Club adopts a One Club approach to the operation and management of its rugby activities. The Mini and Youth players and parents through to Colts and Senior players are all members of equal standing within The Club.
Currently our First Team are enjoying considerable success in National League Division Two (North) under the stewardship of Director of Rugby, Simon Wright, Head Coach, Stewart Turner and Club Captain, Richard Vasey. We at Caldy Rugby are rightly proud of the many Caldy players who have progressed through the ranks at Paton Field to National and International honours including Ben Johnson (England) Andy Maxwell (England), Stewart Turner (England), Gavin Kerr (Scotland), Shaun Woof (England Under 21), Gavin Woods (England Counties) .Other members of Caldy Rugby have gained International recognition including Former Head Coach, Matt Holt (Barbarians) and Skills Coach, Christian Saverimutto (Ireland). Many other Caldy Senior Squad members including Paul Arnold, Richard Bradshaw, Richard Vasey, John Broxson and Shaun Woof have played at National Division One and Premiership level before returning to Paton Field to pass on their experience.
Tremendous work has been done by so many people over the years to ensure that Caldy RFC are at the forefront of Youth & Mini Rugby. In May 2003 this was recognised by the Rugby Football Union when in we were granted the RFU Seal of approval. Caldy was one of the first sporting clubs in the country to receive this accolade which has been introduced in association with Sport England and the Clubmark scheme. We have continued this progression, and having completed year 1 & 2 of our Development Plan and were again one of the first Clubs in the country to achieve Year 3 seal of approval in 2006 and then one of the first Clubs to be awarded the RFU Whole Club Seal of Approval Award.
We remain keen to raise the profile of the club both on and off the field of play and to continue in improving all aspects of Club life. Our plans for the future can only succeed with the help and goodwill of all club members and we take this opportunity to give special thanks to all those people who give of themselves freely to help organise the Club so efficiently, be they officials, committee members, supporters or sponsors.
If you are a player or spectator who is interested in rugby you will receive a very warm welcome at Paton Field.
