Bradford-on-Avon u16
27-19
Stockwood Sharks U16
Bradford were feeling up for this game, looking for a much deserved win after several difficult games. Bradford kicked off and immediately turned the ball over thanks to excellent rucking from the forwards. Bradford put pressure on the Sharks, pushing forward through some good offensive running by the backs to just short of the 5m line. This pressure was kept up by Bradford, resulting in a try in the corner for Joe Farrag after just a few phases of play.
Bradford looked to be keeping up their good tempo, the backs, shifting the ball well down the line and through some hard runs by Steph Florentiades and Isaac Cheesman, Tom King scored, putting Bradford up 10 - 0.
Again, straight from the kickoff Bradford's forwards turned the ball over and through some great un-selfish team play by Jack Bloor, who could so easily have scored on his debut for the team, popped the ball to Joe Farrag was able to get his second try, making it 15-0 to Bradford.
Bradford seemed to be dominating, and were again able to force their way downfield, and pressure from the forwards in charging down Stockwood's kicks, Bradford scored again, through Isaac Cheesman.
Just as Bradford seemed to be running away with it, Stockwood stepped up, and through some powerful runs (and a few missed tackles) were managing to disrupt Bradford's defense, and they came away with a try.
After a shaky patch, Bradford regrouped and were once again able to score, with Toby Davies scoring, and converting to make the score 27-5.
The halftime whistle came and Bradford were looking to stretch their lead but hints of complacency made their attacks less effective, and allowed Stockwood back into it. Stockwood pushed Bradford back into their own 22, put them under a lot of pressure. However, Bradford defended well, making tackles and not over-committing in the rucks. Eventually, after a series of Penalties for offside against Bradford Stockwood broke through for a try, which was then converted.
The game continued much more even-handedly, play swapping each way. Bradford began to gain some more territory, after some good forward work by Max Peters and Jamie Ash, but Stockwood managed to break away and scored shortly before the final whistle.
Final score Bradford 27, Stockwood 19
