Fairford
BOY BAND IN HARMONY
On a beautiful sunny day at The Dome BoA ran in nine tries against a feisty Fairford side. Leading the way were wingers Ben Sheppard and Paul Gerrish with three and two respectively.
BoA started the game strongly and in determined mood their pack began to assert a dominance that would continue throughout the majority of the match. With this quality possession Bradford's backs, who love to play with the sun on their backs began to run some great line and were soon three tries to the good with Ben Sheppard, Mike Birtin and Paul Gerrish crossing the line. Fairford hit back when a cross-field kick from their fly half bounced kindly for the left winger who combined with the scrum half for a well taken try. The remainder of the first half saw tries for flanker Ed Dawson and centre James Dawson, both converted by Phil Heale.
The second half began with Fairford exerting pressure on the BoA line which led to two penalties from the Fairford fly half. BoA then began to reassert their dominance and ran in four further scores from Ben Sheppard (2) Paul Gerrish and Ed Dawson.
'Particular praise must go to the pack with Brad Wilson prominent with some typically robust running. With the front five dominating, the back row of George, Kenny and Dawson began to assert themselves in the loose. The defence was organised and vocal, conceding only one try.' said coach Dave George.'We must continue to improve in all areas of our game if we are to continue to push for promotion. The lads know this and our sessions with conditioning coach Scott have been intense but with a good buzz. We need to lay some ghosts to rest this weekend away at Cricklade where we have not won in two visits.'
