Bradford on Avon 88 - 0 Swindon ll
A fine day for running rugby at The Dome saw BoA run in 14 tries against a plucky Swindon side who, despite the score, never gave in. Fielding a full strength team BoA played the brand of rugby they have been striving to achieve all season. a good strong display from the pack and some incisive running and decision making from the backline.
Scorers were wings Joe Thompson and Paul Gerrish with four and three respectively, Phil Heale with two, skipper Jason Wheatley with two, Tom Monks one, Dan Tozer one and Damian Hardaker one. Nine tries were converted by Heale and one from the touchline by second-row Ginger Powell.
Coach Dave George was pleased with the attitude of his team '' we played a cohesive and structured game, which is sometimes hard when the scoreline is big. There is a team spirit and ethos developing with this bunch of players that has been missing for a couple of seasons. The lads are training hard and this is proving decisive as the season goes on.''
This week sees a couple of changes of personnel with Ginger Powell away at a Punch and Judy convention in Southend and Damian Hardaker competing in the mixed figure skating championships in Birmingham. Chris Heale, back from university, replaces Powell in the 2nd row while Joe Thompson moves to full back and James Dawson, fresh from his weekend with dolls comes onto the wing.
