First Half
The first game of the season kicked off and was played at a fast pace throughout the whole 1st half. Our first try came within 5 -10 minutes of the kick-off. The ball was passed along the line until it got to Ed Borton who dived for the line showing his true power and pace. Scrum-half, Jack Harvey got our next try with a fast break out from the back of the ruck, also showing his pace. Our third try scorer of the match was wing Matt Lowe who received the ball from some fast passing through all the backs' hands and put the ball comfortably down over the line. Tom King was our next try scorer from a quick line out. A short sprint and dive to the line meant that the try was easily awarded. The 5th try was by far the best try of the whole match, scored by Steph Florentiades. Our fly-half Toby Davies popped the ball to Steph behind the half way line and the side stepping and hand-offs were incredible. Steph ran through half the team and dived over the line to be awarded the try of the game converted by Toby. Our last try of the half was taken well by Ed Borton also converted, to secure a firm lead into the second half.
Second Half
The second half kicked off, again at a fast pace and we all hoped a cricket score might be on the cards. To make this happen, wing Eddie Smith -Taylor secured his first try of the game after some great passing in the backs. The forwards kept turning over the rucks with some awesome power and strength. Eddie was awarded his 2nd try of the match with a side step on the wing and a dive over the line. Steph was also awarded his 2nd try of the match with a great pass from Toby. To finish the game off, Eddie secured his hat-trick of the game with a well taken try through some fast passing from centers Isaac Cheesman and Tom King. The win was secured and the final score, after a second Stockwood try on the final whistle, was Stockwood Sharks 10, Bradford-on-Avon 58. A well deserved win and a w on the scorecard!
