The Mighty Vths turned out for their second fixture of the season on the back of a winning start against East London in the previous week. The sun was shining and as ever the fit and healthy bunch of players turned out ready to show off the results of their vigorous summer training regimes. This week’s winner of Man of the Match was the mighty dwarf Drewy for his never ending running up and down the pitch from the first to the last minute of the game. ‘Clearly Useless Numpty Twat’ of the Match was Vic Goddard due to his never ending gobbing off throughout the game. Vic’s high point came when he was disciplined by the ref for agreeing with his decision in a derisory and disrespectful manner. Vic claimed innocence for this situation, however the ref was clearly not fooled.
Unfortunately the game ended in defeat for the 5ths, by 19 points to 12. Although we were able to score two tries in the game, with one conversion, we ere unable to make the pressure that we had count. Upper Clapton spotted a series of weaknesses in the Stortford team and exploited these to the full. Some harsh lessons were learnt in our second friendly of the season, and hopefully we will take these on board for the rest of the season. The game was close, but the Stortford players finished with a real sense of disappointment.
