Played at Enfield at 11.00am on Sunday 7.2.2010 35 minutes each way.

Against a very physical Enfield side Stortford came through as comfortable winners of this league match.
This was Stortford’s first league match of the season against the current league leaders.
Stortford started very strongly and after 7 minutes took the lead with a try from wing Adam Elliott who crossed the line after excellent work from the forwards.

Stortford dominated most of the first half with excellent defence and tactical kicking. Their efforts were rewarded after 24 minutes when Wing Connor Docherty scored a try, which was made by some very slick handling through the back line.

Enfield applied a lot of pressure as the first half came to an end, and their forwards drove over for a converted try in the 35 minute of the first half.
Score 7-10 at half time.
In the second half Enfield had the sloping pitch as an advantage and started very strongly camping in the Stortford 22 metre area for long periods.
This was relieved by a strong break by wing Adam Elliott followed by a try for Centre Mike Butler. The try was converted by Fly Half Tom Walsh.
Score after 45 minutes 7 – 17
With the home side starting to really take control of the half only some very valiant defending kept them from scoring and eventually this defence was turned in to attack and Connor Docherty scored his second try of the match, again converted by Tom Walsh.
Score after 57 minutes 7- 24
There were no further scores as both teams cancelled each other out for the remainder of the second half.
