Summary
Living in a remote place like this has its up side and its down side. We have lovely views and poor weather, we have great people around us but not enough of them and we are very rural meaning that there are very few people to go at for sponsorship and voluntary work! We can't win - stuck between a rock and a hard place. You'd think we would be used to it but we aren't - we are determined to succeed and with that in mind we are looking to the future with planning and development. We once led the way in Cumbria with players, facilities and success - we have now been left behind but we have plans - so watch us carefully over the next 5 years.
Our lads travel a long way and play each weekend - never do they pull on a black and red jersey without wanting to give 100% - never doubt the heart of an Aspatria player - they follow in the footsteps of many great players - Hanley, Davidson, Pears, Doggart, Richardson, etc & Steve Davidson returned to us last year We have supplied our fair share of England players in the past and we will continue to do so as we have a brilliant Junior set up,- dedicated young players, coaches and parents. Robert Miller has already played for England U18s & is in the Falcons academy and will be playing for Tynedale this season; They will be the strength of Aspatria in the years to come.
This season we have recruited well & have been training most of the summer months actively encouraged by the Coaches Mike Scott & Adrian Bateson.
