A young Ampthill Colts side containing just one Under 19 and a number of Under 17s took on Stockwood Park.
Park very quickly set out their stall with their big pack keeping the ball in a series of pick and drives resulting in an early try for them. Additionally Under 17 winger Harry Archer felt the full force of the big Park No 8 and had to leave the pitch feeling somewhat groggy.
Later in the first half Ampthill used the 5 metre penalty they had been awarded well running the ball and getting a try which was converted. the second half saw both teams with opportunities to win the match and it was right at the end when Ampthills backs moved the ball for a try in the far corner.
Well done Park, a competitive Semi which could have gone either way. Ampthill now face Bedford Ath in the final at Dillingham Park on 29th March. Ath beat Luton in the other semi 7-5.

A good local derby between two evenly matches sides with the difference being Ampthills ability to bring subs on the pitch whereas injuries in the match forced Bedford to finish with 14 men.
Both sides had players with individual flair although Luke Radley, in a re-appearance at Dillingham Park, showed why he is a National Colts Cup winner with Bedford Academy.
This friendly was much appreciated and gave Ampthill the opportunity to blood debutants in Pat, Ashley, Danny and Stuart. Next week Ampthill Colts will be taking their unbeaten record to Bugbrooke in the East Midlands league.

Ampthill Colts got their League campaign off to the best possible start with a comprehensive 62-0 win over local rivals Luton.
The foundation of the victory was in the forwards with the front row of Titman, Harrison-Lynch and Rogers totally dominant.
Flanker Sam Sumner impressed in the loose whilst a mature performance by 16 year old scrum half Colin Liddell ensured both backs and forwards combined for a glut of scores most of which were converted by Fly Half Will Farris.
New Captain Andy Longworth now leads his side in the first round of the National Colts Cup next Saturday at home against Bugbrooke.
