Ampthill defeated Solihull despite two red cards in the 60th min and playing the remaining 20mins plus injury time with just 13 on the pitch.
The visitors started slowly with the home side dominant for the first quarter converting two penalties in the 13th and 20th mins before an unconverted try on 25 mins saw them take an 11-0 lead. Down to 14 players after a yellow card Ampthill rolled up their sleeves and replied in the 34th min with a try scored by scrum half Tom Warfield and converted by fly half Dan Lavery leaving the score 11-7 at the half.
Amps came flying out of the blocks for the second period with Adam Shaw scoring a 42nd min unconverted try followed on 45 mins by another unconverted try from James Swinbourne. Solihull replied with an unconverted try on 48mins and two further penalties before the visitors saw two props red carded.
The A's fought a remarkable rear guard action preventing the home side from troubling the score board and even conjuring the winning 74th minute try by Bruce Thomas converted by Lavery.
