From Recruit to Group to IRB
NRURS offers the complete package! Whether you are just thinking about refereeing, have just started, have some experience or have high aspirations, we aim to deliver.
The Society is proud of its 'top' referee of the moment, Dave Pearson, who is regularly seen on TV officiating Premier League games as well as International fixtures. Dave started playing rugby in Northumberland, started refereeing in Northumberland and is based in Northumberland! He helps out in the Society through advising and coaching referees of all levels when he is not 'on duty' and has a regular input to the Society's training meetings.
We offer regular training to our referees, of all levels and have encompassed the latest training modules from the RFU Referee Department as a way of ensuring all our members can fulfil the duty of care expected of them, no matter what level of game they are refereeing.
The Society also works hard with the CB to keep players, coaches and spectators up-to-date with all the changes that take place in rugby, as well as delivering training to club-based referees. We are also in the process of developing a club-based referee adviser/coach course that will help improve the quality of non-Society referees.
